Adding “wa barakaatuh” to the tasleem

Question:

When saying the tasleem at the end of prayer, is it ok to say “As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh” or should we not add “barakatuh”?

Zaynab El-Kateb:

At the tasleem we say

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله.

“As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah”

There are differences amongst Scholars regarding adding:

و بركاته “wa barakaatuh”

There are Scholars who said that the hadeeth indicating this addition is weak.

Accordingly, Shaikh ibn Baz said that it is better to not to say wa barakaatuh (و بركاته) in order to avoid any doubt.
