Should one avoid going to their parents in law if one knows they have a bad effect on one’s religion? Is it obligatory upon the woman to have frequent contact with her parents in law?
There is no obligation upon a woman to visit her parents in law, but she needs to do it to please her husband. She needs to weigh the situation and she tries to limit her visits if it’s needed, but if there is a definite harm in her religion then she has the right to refrain from visiting them.
قال رسول الله: إنما الطاعة في المعروف
According to above hadith, obeying her husband is only within the good acts, (that is, as long as there is no harm or haram involved).
