A divorced man has to spend on his children

Question:

If a man is divorced and has children, is he responsible to pay for the children’s needs if his ex wife refuses to let him see or speak to his kids?

In the name of Allah and all praise belongs to Allah, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger of Allah, to proceed:

In regards to the questioner who is asking about spending on his children whilst he does not see them.

First of all, spending upon them had no connection with seeing them. Spending upon them – by the will of Allah – is obligatory upon you; he is to spend upon his children.

However, he is to try – by the will of Allah – to do something by way of a mediator in order that he is able to see his children. This is his right which he is not to be prevented from.

His ex wife is [considered] sinful for this. However, this should not prevent him from spending upon his children.

And Allah is the Most High and He knows best.
