Who is Shaikh Hassan Al-Banna?

Question:

I have read on the Internet that Shaikh Hassan Al-Banna was heavily influenced by Sufism as a youth in Mahmudiyah. Can you kindly clarify this please?

Zaynab El-Kateb:

This man is the head of the sect Ikhwan Al-Muslimeen who died about seventy years ago. He is a different person. Their name just resembles each other.

Shaikh Hassan Abdel-Wahhab Al-Banna is a Salafi Scholar. He was appointed to teach Aqeedah in the Islamic University in Madinah by Shaikh Ibn Baz, and he has a written Tazkiyyah from him. Shaikh Hassan was a close friend of Imam Al-Albani. He also worked in dawah with many of the Salafi Scholars. He is the younger brother of the well known scholar of hadith Shaikh Muhammad Abdel Wahab Al-Banna who was one of Shaikh Rabee Al-Madkhaly’s teachers.
