Discharge After Making Ghusl For Menses

Question:

After my periods and I make ghusl, I get a lot of discharge. When it is time for prayers do I need to wash myself for every prayer? Discharge comes when I am clean and I have taken a bath of purity it’s not part of the period.

Zaynab El-Kateb:

If you get brownish discharges you need to wash them and make wudu before each prayer.
Yes, it is not menses and according to Scholars’s opinion, you wash only your private parts and the discharges, do not take a ghusl shower, and you are pure.  And this is according to the narration of Umm ‘Atiyyah who said: “We did not regard brownish or yellowish discharge after the period ended as being anything that mattered.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 307; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.
